Adhesive Tablet Effective for Treating Canker Sores in Humans

Objective: This assessment studied the effectiveness of a mucoadhesive tablet, which releases natural active agents for pain reduction and rapid healing of canker sores.

Methodology: A clinical trial was conducted on 248 volunteers who had canker sores. The in vitro release rate of the active ingredients and time of tablet erosion as well as a double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study of these tablets were reviewed.

Results: The tablets adhered well to the mucosal tissue and gradually eroded over 8 hours.

Conclusion: The tablets were effective in reducing pain and decreasing healing time without adverse side effects.
