Splint… Jaw pain… Custom dental guard…

Chances are you’re really familiar with those words if you suffer from bruxism, that anxiety-induced nighttime clenching and grinding of the teeth. Even though they’re made of the hardest material the body can produce, your teeth need to be protected from each other to prevent cracking, wearing, and breaking while you bite and clench. DenTek’s dental guard gives you the quality, custom-fit protection you need.

STORAGE AND MAINTENANCE

Proper care of your Dentek Dental Guard will extend its life.
  • After each use, rinse the dental protector in cool water or mouthwash. Never use hot water on your dental protector as it might lose its shape.
  • Store in the hygienic storage container when not in use.

"The previous model nightguard was awesome and it was easy to fit. Mine was blue and it came in some other colors too. The new design is awful. It doesn't fit right and it's so hard to fit. Target seems to have their own brand which is the same as Dentek used to create and it's clear for around $14.50. It looks like Dentek might have even created it for them or they copied Dentek. Sad I had to switch to a Target brand - I wish Dentek wouldn't have discontinued them."

"I was having trouble with jaw pain and researched a lot of products. Picked these up in the grocery store. After the first night my jaw pain decreased to almost nil. 2nd day it was totally gone! I put the guard in when I get home from work and it stays put, fits my bite and is SO comfortable!"

"Take your time fitting it to your mouth. Use your fingers to mold to top and gum area."

"I love this product! I purchased it yesterday at Walmart (for almost $10 less than on the website). I had no real problem with fitting it although I did have to reheat it once to get it just right. It's very comfortable. I slept through the night and best of all, for the first time in 30 years, no jaw pain this morning!!! It's a miracle!!! I definitely recommend this to anyone."

"The original blue nightguard was excellent: comfortable and easy to fit. The new design is terrible. It is extremely difficult to get the fit right and is very bulky. After using this product for years, I am now trying to find another brand."

"Could'nt get the right fit. And too big to hold it inside the mouth while sleeping."

"I was hoping this would relieve my jaw pain. It took me two tries to fit properly. It seemed comfortable at first, but after a mere six hours my jaw hurt worse than when I inserted it. Also, the guard seems to have lost its fit after just one wearing. Very disappointed."

"I just attempted to fit the custom comfort dental guard and was unsuccessful for both guards! I read the instructions before attempting to fit the first guard and even visited this website to see if there were any additional tips. These guards seem to either have too much fitting material or too much firm plastic because I could not achieve a comfortable fit. I had to reboil the first guard until it was useless. Even with instructions and two attempts with the first guard, I was still unsuccessful with the second guard. These guards are not easy to fit due to poor design. I have used Dentist Night Guard before and did not have any similar issues with fitting and I believe those guards are easier to fit because they are smaller and contain less plastic/molding material. I changed brands to this product due to affordability but I am now in the process of getting a refund for this particular guard. I would not recommend using this particular guard. "

"You don't need the whole guard in your mouth. I found it to be TO BULKY and I had trouble falling asleep. I bought a second one and did a little remodeling. I cut both sides evenly and only used what would cover my front teeth. Your not going to be able to bottom out. You would break you teeth before that happened. ITS WAY COMFORTABLE NOW!!...AND I DON'T FEEL LIKE ITS CLOGGING MY MOUTH UP. I also used a fingernail file to smooth any rough edges. It stays in place and it's not going anywhere. Good luck out there folks and thanks for a great product DenTek!

"I purchased this thinking it would be better than the previous mouthguard I had....not so. The main problem seems to be that when biting into it, there is too much gel in the back near the molars - which when displaced by your bite makes the mouthguard to bulky in your mouth. I tried to refit it several times and had difficulty. They promptly refunded my money. I went searching for the mouthguard similar to the one I had and found DenTeks "custom comfort" style that is perfect!"

What You Need To Begin
  • A microwave
  • A ceramic cup
  • A metal fork
  • A dental guard
  • A clock with a second hand
  • A ceramic plate
  • A mirror

Fitting Instructions

  1. Using a microwave, bring a coffe cup of water to a rolling boil.
  2. Remove cup of boiling water and let it rest for 15 seconds.
  3. Place the dental guard with the soft, formable material facing DOWN into the hot water for 50 seconds.
  4. Remove it with a metal fork and place on a plate (with the soft, formable material facing UP) for 10 seconds to cool off.
  5. Immediately pick up the dental guard by the base and carefully place in your mouth but do not bite down yet.
  6. While looking in a mirror, align the center below your front two teeth and the sides below your molars.
  7. Firmly bite down and strongly suck in to remove excess moisture. With teeth clenched, use your fingers to mold the soft, formable material up and around the outside of your teeth and gums. Use your tongue to mold the material against the roof of your mouth.
  8. Open your mouth and use your thumbs to mold the soft, formable material against the roof of your mouth and up and around the inside of your teeth and gums.
  9. Firmly bite down again and leave the dental guard in your mouth until it cools to body temperature - about 3 to 4 minutes.

You are now finished with the fitting process and your dental guard should fit comfortably. However, If you did not get a good fit the first time, repeat the boiling process one more time beginning with Step 3. After two attempts, however, the material loses retention and you will need to fit the bonus dental guard.

Cleaning and Care

After each use, brush your dental guard with toothpaste and/or mouthwash. Never rinse in hot water as it could alter the shape of your dental guard.

Replacing Your Dental Guard

All dental guards should be replaced over time. Please check your dental guard monthly for wear. If one wears out, please use the bonus dental guard included. The life of your DenTek Custom Comfort Dental Guard depends on how often you grind and the force of your teeth grinding. On average, each dental guard should last approximately six months or longer.
